So I moved...

I anticipate this won’t be a surprise to most of you who decide to read this, but then again, I wasn’t super vocal about my plans post-grad. Some of you may have thought I was going to Spain and that was my original plan. But, in the interest of being concise (although brevity isn’t my strong suit) all I will say for now, is that Spain didn’t work out.

My fervent hopes to live abroad were still aflame and so with Spain behind me, I had to pivot. After copious Google search sessions and informational phone calls, I landed on a one-month-long Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course in Prague. I was hesitant at first. I didn’t speak any Czech (now I can meagerly produce a few words and phrases!) and I didn’t know much about Prague. But, every time this potential plan came up in conversation with friends, family, and even strangers — their eyes would light up and the beauties of Prague would tumble from their lips almost as though they were gripped by some sort of enchantment. With each of these interactions, my uncertainty began to melt away.

As it approaches nearly six weeks since my departure from Philadelphia, I am settled enough to start documenting my experiences more consistently. My course is finished, my certificate is obtained, and now it’s time to explore!

If you asked me a couple of weeks ago, I would have struggled to convey the kind of magic Prague possesses that left so many of those friends, family members, and strangers spellbound. I was wrapped up in my course and had very little free time. In the last few days though, that magic has begun to reveal itself as I find myself smiling at the way the sunlight catches on the Vltava River or nearly gasping at the intricacies of the city’s architecture leftover from its time as the Kingdom of Bohemia’s shining capital.

I feel as though I am discovering a different Prague than the one I have been living in the past few weeks and I am excited to be that friend, family member, or stranger to describe this city’s beauty to you. I can’t wait for you to join me on this journey!

Until next time,

Lily
